Subscription for school children
You need an inexpensive ticket for your daily trip to school? Public transport will get your there safely. Whether train, bus or tram, with the VVO reduced fare travel pass you have made the right choice.
The reduced fare (subscription) travel pass – also known as the monthly school travel pass – is valid for all bus, tram and train lines in the tariff zone for which it has been issued and can of course also be used at weekends.

Important to know:
Reduced fare travel passes are only valid for the person that they have been issued to. The passes include a customer card that has been filled in, in an indelible ink, with all the relevant personal information and with a passport photo of the card owner affixed to it in such a way that it cannot be taken off the card, as well as a validation stamp.
Further, school children 15 years or older require the confirmation of the school they are attending or the responsible operating company.
If the stamp is lost or stolen, the operating companies will, for a set fee, issue a replacement stamp which has to be picked up in the service centre, the offices of the operating company or the school (depending on the rules of the district in which it was issued).
Receiving a monthly travel pass through the school
- Hand in your application for a reduced fare monthly travel pass to your school.
- In the case of an approval for the reimbursement of costs, please pay for the parent’s share with a standing order or debit order (the basis for this are the articles on the transportation of school children for the respective administrative district). The forms for a direct debit authorisation are available in the schools or in the district offices. The completed direct debit authorisation forms are to be handed in to the district office (department for the transportation of school children).
- Monthly travel pass and customer card can be picked up from the school secretary.
Receiving a monthly pass from the operating company
As a rule, a child in attendance at a school and in the possession of a customer card that has been confirmed by their school, can buy a reduced fare (subscription) monthly or yearly pass or a one-week ticket, even if no reimbursement has been approved.
