Whether as a pleasant way to spend time with the family or as a sporting activity – here you are the one that goes out and paddles about! The range of boats available goes all the way from sports canoes to paddle boats all the way to dragons (keelboats) and rafting.
The main attraction for all row boat, paddle boat and canoe enthusiasts is of course the River Elbe. But the tributaries of the Elbe as well as several reservoirs and mountain lakes in the VVO region offer possibilities for these kinds of sports.
If you are planning a one-day canoe trip on the River Elbe or longer, then there are several canoe rental agencies that will be glad to help. The canoes can be used along set routes with predetermined canoe stations so that it is not necessary to pick up or bring back to boats to a set starting point. However, if you want the freedom of planning everything yourself, you can of course also pick up the canoes, travel your own route and then bring them back again.
A favourite location is Amselsee in Rathen in Saxon Switzerland. The lake has a very romantic location between the cliffs and is close to the Felsenbühne, a large natural outdoor theatre near Rathen. Row boats and paddle boats can be rented right on the shores of the lake.
Boat rentals are usually carried out by local businesses or local rowing and canoeing associations. There are even some local hotels that offer this service.
