Balloon trips
On warm summer evenings, hot air balloons belong to the skyline as much as the bell tower of the village church. If you are interested in taking a trip in a hot air balloon, there are many places in the VVO region that will take you along.

Especially the meadows along the banks of the River Elbe are a popular starting point for summer balloon trips. Those who decide to take a trip on the spur of the moment can try their luck in Dresden at the Neustädter Ufer. A safer bet is to ask one of the numerous ballooning companies. However, you cannot plan ahead with absolute certainty because a balloon trip always requires good weather. Rain and thunderstorms but also strong winds and poor visibility can all prevent a balloon trip from taking place.
If there are enough participants, the ballooning companies are often prepared to start from a property of your choice – assuming that the property is large enough and suitable for starting a ballooning trip! Simply ask the company of your choice.
Balloon trips can take place on any day of the year. In spring, summer and fall the trips take place in the morning and in the evening, in the winter they are carried out around mid day. Normally a trip lasts 90 minutes. However you should plan on 4 to 5 hours for the entire experience since you also have to get the balloon set up and you will also need time for the trip back to your starting point. Of course each initial trip in a balloon has the traditional “baptism” with sparkling wine.
Depending on the size of the balloon, a basket will carry between 5 and 9 people. Larger children are permitted when accompanied by an adult.
