Beyond the VVO

There are special tariffs that apply to destinations outside the area covered by the VVO. Here you can find out more about the rules for using the train, regional bus transportation and to what extent tickets can be used for other transportation companies.

The following rules apply to destinations outside the VVO area of operation:

  • Only the tariffs of the Deutsche Bahn AG apply for the German railway system.
  • Special tariffs apply for regional bus transportation. The necessary tickets can only be purchased in those buses that leave or enter the VVO area.
  • In addition, on selected lines it is possible to use VVO tickets or to use non-VVO tickets. You will find more information on which lines in the addendum 1 of the tariff rules.

Cross-network VVO–ZVON seasonal fares

Frequent travellers regularly visiting destinations in our neighbouring network, the Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien transport association (ZVON) and using the Dresden – Bautzen – Görlitz/Zittau railway line can take advantage of a joint season ticket offer. A through ticket can be bought from any VVO fare zone to any destination in the ZVON fare zone, making it far easier and more convenient to change modes of transport in eastern Saxony.

Choose from:

  • Weekly tickets (normal and concessions)
  • Monthly passes (normal and concessions)
  • Monthly passes on subscription (normal and concessions)

Accompanied items, additional passengers

Options for use as a one-day family ticket on weekends and public holidays are subject to the same regulations as VVO season tickets. This again does not include weekly tickets or concessionary monthly passes. In the VVO area a bicycle or a dog can be carried free of charge. In the ZVON area, an extra ticket is required for passengers taking a bicycle or dog with them (see ZVON fare regulations at http://www.zvon.de/)

Cross-network VVO-ZVON fare zone tickets can be bought:

  • in DB AG travel centres and agencies
  • at DB AG ticket machines at transport stops
