DVWG, German Scientific Association of Transport, Saxon branch

The Deutsche Verkehrswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft e. V. (DVWG, German Scientific Association of Transport) is an association of transportation and traffic experts who either work in or co-operate with research, industry and administration. The association is a neutral platform dedicated to the exchange of knowledge and experience between theoretical and practical work in the area of traffic development. The association works towards the goal of a sustainable traffic development. In the process of European unification, the association is trying to bring together the experts from all European countries under the roof of one European platform for transport and traffic sciences. In particular, the DVWG tries to foster young talent in its “Junges Forum”.
In its meetings, the Saxon branch of the association looks at regional traffic and transportation problems and passes on information on strategic traffic developments. In addition to the monthly meetings, the association also organises a series of public transport symposia as well as specialist excursions. Interdisciplinary membership, factual argumentation and multimodal approaches determine the work of the Saxon branch of the association.
The activities of the Saxon branch of the association are of interest to traffic and transportation specialist in the entire Saxon region. With its 220 members (both individuals and organisations), it is the largest DVWG branch in the new German states.
Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (Upper Elbe Regional Transport) administers the Saxon DVWG office, which is managed by Knut Ringat.
