Free transport

Children

Children until enrolment accompanied by an adult and nursery school groups can travel free on local trains, the S-Bahn, trams, buses and almost every ferry in the VVO area.

Those accompanying nursery school groups receive no reduction.

Severely disabled passengers

Severely disabled passengers are carried free of charge if they have a valid severe disability pass and the social services form with a valid stamp (rules of the Social Code: Neuntes Buch Sozialgesetzbuch (Article 145 SGB IX)). These Social Code rules also cover the free transport of persons accompanying a severely disabled person - the name of the companion must be shown on the valid severe disability pass.

Severely disabled people with a valid severe disability pass and the social services form with a valid stamp may use public transport free of charge within every transport association area in Germany. Second-class travel on local trains throughout Germany and on the historic vehicles in the VVO area is also free of charge. The 50 kms rule was abandoned on September 1st 2011.

State and Federal Police and Saxon Security Guard

Free State of Saxony police officers and federal police in uniform, and Czech police officers if conducting joint patrols with members of the federal police, and officers of the Saxon Security Guard in uniform, may travel free of charge on transport throughout the VVO area. On local trains this only applies to 2nd class.
