The elevator was built in 1904, on the initiative of hotelier Rudolf Sendig, to an Art Nouveau design. It is a quick and comfortable way to take people from Bad Schandau up to Ostrau. On the way up, you negotiate a height differential of 47.76 metres.

Once on the top, you can enjoy an impressive panorama taking in the Elbe valley. Take advantage of the opportunity and visit the free lynx enclosure and small snack bar. For walkers, the lift is a small shortcut on the way to the Schrammstein rocks. Enjoy the tranquillity of the forest trails.
