Dresden

Dresden Panorama

A sandstone dream

Dresden, fondly known as „the Florence on the Elbe“, has a unique combination of art and culture plus a wonderfully picturesque setting in the Elbe valley.

Whether you want to stroll through the historic old town with its Zwinger Palace, the Semper Opera House, Dresden Castle and Bruhl's Terrace, marvel at the Old Masters Picture Gallery, visit the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), or enjoy a timeout on the Elbe meadowlands - the journey is easy by bus and rail.

One ticket. Travel on everything.

You don't have to worry about how to get there and back. We will show you how best to do it. Just jump on. A standard tariff applies to local trains, the S-Bahn, trams, buses and almost every ferry.

The transport association – VVO association area

The VVO area is divided into 21 tariff zones. Whichever form of transport you use, and however often you get on and off, the prices you pay are based on these zones. When you travel, you simply count the number of zones you will pass through.

Bus & rail to Dresden

Dresden urban transport

The tram and bus network of the Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG (DVB) is very well developed. All sights are best reached by public transport.

S-Bahn

The S-Bahn in Dresden connects all important towns along the Upper Elbe region with the state capital Dresden.

The S-Bahn line S 1 connects Dresden with the Meissen region and with the Upper Elbe Valley. This way you can get from Dresden to Pirna, Rathen, Königstein and Bad Schandau or to the Elbe Valley to Radebeul and Meißen in a short time.
