Students whose SemesterTicket is also valid as an SPNV SemesterTicket Saxony need to purchase a DB AG local transport cycle day ticket priced at EUR 6.00 to travel with their cycle in the ZVON (as of: 14th June 2020).

Bicycles may be transported free of charge when travelling in the MDV and in the VMS (or VVV) area from Monday to Friday between 7 pm and 4 am. Outside this period, you will need to show a valid VVO cycle day ticket or cycle monthly pass.

The SemesterTicket is also valid

• on the Bergbahns in Dresden (funicular railway and suspension railway)
• and on the Kirnitzsch Valley Tramway in Bad Schandau,
• in the city tour buses in Meissen, as well as in the
• narrow-gauge railways Lößnitzgrundbahn and Weißeritztalbahn

if the holder proves to the operating transport company that he or she resides within a radius of 800 metres from the respective access point. This regulation does not apply to the valley stations of the Bergbahns or the stations Freital-Hainsberg (Weißeritztalbahn) and Radebeul Ost (Lößnitzgrundbahn).

Only a special certificate or a note on the VVO SemesterTicket shown to the ticket inspection staff of VVO partners can be considered as proof.

The SemesterTicket is not valid in hailed shared taxis that operate in Meissen, Riesa and Hoyerswerda.

With an SPNV Semester Ticket Saxony

The Semester Ticket can also be used as an SPNV Semester Ticket Saxony by students at the

• Technische Universität Dresden (TUD),
• TU Dresden Institute for Further and Continuing Education (TUD FaCe),
• Evangelische Hochschule für soziale Arbeit Dresden (EHS),
• Hochschule für Musik Dresden (HfM),
• Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Dresden (HfK),
• Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden (HfBK),
• Dresden International University (DIU),
• IU Internationale Hochschule (IU),

It entitles the holder to use any local trains in the Free State of Saxony.

Exception for IC between Dresden and Chemnitz:

Since June 2022, the Semesterticket is also valid on the following IC trains:

From Dresden Hbf via Freiberg to Chemnitz Hbf:

• IC 2271 / RE 17 (62271): 18:32 h - 19:31 h
• IC 2273 / RE 17 (62273): 20:32 h - 21:31 h

From Chemnitz Hbf via Freiberg to Dresden Hbf

• IC 2272 / RE 17 (62272): 06:26 hrs - 07:25 hrs
• IC 2270 / RE 17 (62270): 08:26 hrs - 09:25 hrs

Travelling outside Saxony

When travelling beyond Saxony's borders, you should buy tickets of the transport company/association concerned up to/from the last station in Saxony.

Combining a SemesterTicket and state ticket:

For journeys with a neighbouring state ticket into its area of validity or into the area of validity of the SPNV SemesterTicket, there is no need to purchase tickets up to the first or from the last scheduled station in the area of validity.

Neighbouring state tickets for the purposes of these provisions are:

With no SPNV Semester Ticket Saxony

Students whose semester ticket is not valid as an SPNV-Semesterticket Sachsen must purchase an additional ticket for journeys from the VVO network border.

Student IDs are not valid tickets when they

• have been stamped "ungültig als Semesterticket",
• the details in the document concerned have been unofficially altered or they
• have been shrink-wrapped.

In such cases, the student will be treated as a customer without a valid ticket.
